Baharat - Arabic for "Spice" - Spice Girls Blend


Ingredients: Middle Eastern Blend - sweet paprika, black pepper, cumin, coriander seeds, cassia, cloves, cardamon & nutmeg. An exotic spice blend pairing sweet spices with the fiercer spices.Although not hot, the flavour is beautifully balanced with all the spice fragrances. Store in  air tight jar in fridge or freezer. The spice blend will stay fresh for at least 6 mths.

Uses in Cooking: Baharat marries well with red meats especially Lamb. Dry marinate meat for approx. 1 hour in fridge before cooking. Use in casseroles, rice dishes & stews. Sparingly on seafood. Helps break down the acidity in tomato based dishes.

BBQ Baharat Lamb


12 lamb cutlets, 2 Tbsp oil, 2 Tbsp Baharat blend

Combine the oil & the baharat blend. Brush over both sides of the lamb cutlets.

Cover & place in fridge 30 min - 1 hr.

Place on bbq over a medium heat, not too hot or the spices will burn but the meat will not be cooked to your liking.

Serve with tabouli, tzatzki, Lebanese bread
