Panch Phora - Spice Girls Blend


Ingredients : Brown mustard seeds, nigella, cumin seed, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds & black sesame seeds.

Uses in Cooking: Said to be of Bengali origin. A blend of spice seeds which are added whole to the oil in the first stage of cooking and fried until the seeds pop before adding vegetables, meat or fish.

It complements carbohydrates such as potatoes, but goes well with all vegetables. Makes a great accompaniment to any meal. Mixed in meat loaf or meatballs, provides bursts of flavour as you come upon the seeds.

Always heat Panch Phora in oil or dry roast til seeds pop, then add remaining ingredients such as meat, lentils, fish  or veggies (esp. potatoes).
